Pharmacy College Admissions Test

Pharmacists are at present very much in demand. Pharmacy is a good career option for students who would like to combine interests in health care and drug therapy. It is an important role in advising patients and a constituent of business. Pharmacy programs require the achievement of at least two years of college study. It is followed by three to four years of specialized study at a pharmacy school.

Depending on the program, pharmacy schools grant either Bachelor of Science (BS) or doctor of pharmacy or Pharm degrees. At all the schools and colleges, one may choose to complete all the course work needed for pharmacy school in two years. The course can be spread out the course work over three years and as well complete the general education requirements. If some one selects the three-year plan, one may receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from the collages in addition to the pharmacy degree

The courses listed meet the typical entrance requirements for pharmacy school. Though, one should research the specific requirements of the schools in which the person is interested in early. It is better to make it early year to be sure for meeting them at the end. Many schools also require the Pharmacy College Admissions Test that is popularly known as PCAT.

The main and common tests are verbal and quantitative ability, reading comprehension and understanding of biology and chemistry. Every section is scored from 100 is the worst to 300 is the best. The average score for successful applicants is usually 220-230 and their standard GPA is 3.45 overall and 3.36 in science courses. The Pharm CAS is a normal application accepted by nearly all pharmacy schools major in the plan to transfer to pharmacy school after two years at all leading schools, there is no need to declare a specific major, as one will receive a degree from the pharmacy school. By spending three years at the reputed collage and completing the general education requirements, one can earn a bachelor of arts in science.

Course and eligibility:

The courses can be completed in two rather full years and will meet the entrance requirements for most pharmacy programs. Be sure to ensure the programs the person is interested in for any specific requirements. Students choosing to spend three years at the pharmacy school will have more flexibility in scheduling these courses. Candidates should pass H.S.C. or (10+2) (Science) with at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or mathematics taken together and passed in the same sitting, 45% for B.C. and Pass in English. Students can also be admitted to 2nd year b. Pharm courses if they have a Diploma in Pharmacy with at least 60% mark.
