Nursing is a field that combines nursing with administrational educational programs. Therefore nursing is an art of handling the patients and practicing nursing . To enroll for the nursing course in any school, the international and the national nursing aspirants need to sit down for the entrance examination . This exam is known as the Nursing Entrance Examination or NET .

This is a computer based test consisting of six sections. The sections are

All the sections need to be answered to receive the score and to be considered for admission . The cut-off marks in this test are 50% in maths and reading. The maths section consists of whole numbers, decimals , fractions , percentages and number systems conversion and algebra. The aspirants need to solve the problems in 60 minutes. No calculators are allowed. The reading comprehension includes reading and answering questions. There are some schools which include grammar and punctuation too. One needs to check it out with the Nursing School.

The foreign students may need to appear for the Test of English as Foreign Language. This is the ability to judge the English competency .

How To Prepare For the Entrance

There are many training institutes who are more than ready to train the aspirant candidates for the nursing entrance examinations, for instance Kaplan . There are also books that have the competitive exam questions too. One can also appear for the online mock tests. This will help to review the performance level in each section . Once you clear the entrance test, there are some nursing schools that provide financial aid to the students who are financially backward.

Can one take a Retest?

Those who have not cleared the nursing entrance in the first attempt can reappear for the test after sixty days. The aspirant is allowed to appear for the test for a maximum of three times in a year. However, for each retest, the candidate has to pay approximately $25. He needs to do the entire test and not a part of it.
