Medical School EssaysWhen someone is in the midst of applying to medical school and it is time to write the AMCAS and non AMCAS personal statements. Before this one must start filling in the boxes on that medical school application, take a deep breath. Let's assess the status like having the GPA. One might have studied for and took the MCAT and volunteered, perhaps researched a topic of interest too. Hopefully one might have even carved out time for the own recreational interests. Now the last stage is
1. finishing the medical school applications 2. Writing the personal statements 3. Drafting and presenting secondary essays. 4. Interviewing. This is the merely part of the admissions process that one has any influence over. The person cannot change the competition and cannot change what one has to date it but make sure that what submitted in the future is the best. Interview:
Most of the unsuccessful interviews are a result of one of two common mistakes made by interviewees. One is being under ready to answer a specific question and the other is being over prepared. Under preparation results from the delusion that because it is not possible to predict with accuracy the specific questions that will be asked, it is impossible and inefficient to do answers. The informer signs of this mistake are meandering, disorganized replies to open-ended questions, contradictions and redundancies. The second pitfall is that of over preparedness results when good purpose is combined with poor strategy. People who make this error are easily stumped by strange questions and may give stilted and over rehearsed answers to more ordinary questions. They might appear to be rigid and nervous and can even come across as bad listeners. Since their answers do not consistently address the question that was asked. Also their aptitude to adapt easily to different interviewers and discussion styles is inhibited, making it difficult for them to begin rapport. There are many lessons that will present a method of preparation that helps to avoid both these pitfalls. The technique stresses both preparedness and flexibility. It takes into version the fact that one can neither predict specific questions nor rely on independently prepared answers. Preparation: Make sure to prepare generally for the specific. This technique of preparation takes benefit of the fact that each of the thousands of possible questions that might be asked is derived from one of a handful of essential categories. Introduce these general categories and list examples of the specific questions that comprise each. Then make strategies for responding to each type of question. For each category introduced, support self with at least three points that would like to communicate about self and think of one or two specific details to carry each. This will allow to create a targeted, comprehensive set of answers to most of the questions one will be asked. With practice, one will be able to actively use the interviewer's questions to communicate the points one wishes to make.
