MCAT Stands For Medical College Entrance Test

This entrance test is required to take admission in the medical colleges located in the United States. This admission test is being administered by the Association of American Medical Colleges more popularly known as the AAMC. This test is held to standardize the scores of the students across the nation. The examination takes place twice a year. First it is being held in the month of April and then it is being conducted in the month of August. The score of this examination is compared by the organization to permit admission to the students aspiring to become medical practitioner. Since the exam is being appeared by students all across the nation the level of competition in the exam is very high.

Structure of the test

The MCAT is meant for the students aspiring to pursue medicine as their subject for their higher studies. Thus the examination tests the students on different subjects of science. The test is being divided into 4 sections. The first section contains questions from physical science. The second section deals with the questions from verbal reasoning. The third section offers questions on writing sample. The last section deals with questions from biological science. The verbal reasoning, physical science and biological science contain question of multiple choice answer. The writing sample section contains subjective questions. The test these days are being held for 5.4 hours. The writing sample requires the student to write 2 short essays.
